Comet Update – 10/4/21 Game Week #6 Regular Season
Good Morning Comet Parents!
1. Another beautiful FALL weekend of Comet and Rocket Football!
2. Last Friday our RBCHS Rockets Varsity won on the road at Sycamore 42-20 against a high ranked 5A team (4-2). The Rockets are now are 6-0 for the 2021 season, and they play on the road this coming Friday BUT….it’s not far up the road…it’s just up the block at (1-5) Johnsburg @ 7 PM. JV game is @ 5 PM. The address is 2002 W Ringwood Rd, Johnsburg, IL 60051.
3. And another week with lots of great Comet updates as the playoff picture begins to unfold for a few grade levels each and every week!! Our Flaggers were back in action Sat and kicked off the Fiesta Bowl weekend!! The 1st/2nd Grade Maroon team played their Crosstown Classic Game against the 1st/2nd Grade Gold team at 9 AM! The Gold team came out on top 19-6. Our 3rd/4th grade team played a 1-2 Westosha Maroon team at 11 AM and came up short 0-6. The 5th Grade team faced a 2-0 Horlick Rebel Gray team at 1 PM and won their 5th straight game by a score of 27-12. The 6th Graders hosted a 3-0 AYFA Angels team at 3 PM and weathered the storm by winning 22-19 and moving to 4-1. The 7th grade faced a 3-1 Kenosha BGC team at 5 PM and lost 26-44. And the 8thgrade team played under the Sat night lights against a 2-2 Kenosha BGC Black Knights team and lost a close one 35-42.
4. As mentioned several times, most teams have games scheduled up thru week 7. And some opponents listed on the schedule are without actual game times until we can determine the opponents at ALL grade levels. You will not see opponents or times on games during 10/16. 10/23, or 10/30 until we can successfully determine our opponents at ALL levels, field availability, and game times at the LEAGUE level. This ONLY can happen after the actual scheduled games are played to determine seeding. We WILL advise as this gets closer each week. This should start to populate in a few spots later this week.
5. This Wednesday night (10/6) at 6 PM, our 3rd/4th grade team will play their makeup game from 9/25 vs Johnsburg at the Johnsburg HS under the lights! On Saturday 10/9/21, @ 8 AM our Flaggers are back at home kicking off the day! The 9 AM game has our 3rd/4th grade team playing 2-2 Wilmot Red. The 11 AM game is the 7th grade team playing 0-5 Westosha Silver. To close out the day at Thelen is the 1 PM game between our 8th grade team and the 1-3 CLS Eagles for the final inter division game of the year. Comet teams on the road this Saturday are 1st/2nd Maroon and they face 0-5 Elkhorn at 9 AM. The 1st/2ndGold will be battling 3-1 Wilmot Panthers also at 9 AM. Our 5th Graders take on the 5-0 Wilmot Panthers in a battle of the unbeatens at 1 PM!! Right after the 5th grade game, our 6th Graders take on the 3-2 Wilmot Panthers whom are right behind our boys in their division. Exciting week ahead!!
6. Our Game Field lights were corrected last week by a few past Comet families who participated with us a decade or so ago! So awesome to have these tremendous giving folks still within the community doing what they’ve always done in the past! SGP lights were also checked and a few of our teams will be taking advantage of this on a few possible upcoming scrimmages! We’re also looking at remodeling the pressbox at SGP late this year or 2022. More to follow.
7. Tonight we will have a banquet meeting with dates planned for one day the weekend of November 6th or 7th. We most likely will reach out for a headcount and RSVP this week for either of these potential dates so we can plan this event accordingly. We will keep you posted.
